Last
Landing Time. This is written on the control
wagon and will be SUNSET. It
is imposed for your protection, so make sure you know it before you fly
and stick to it! A reminder will be broadcast on 130.1 Mhz one hour before
LLT and then at 15 minute intervals.
Position
and Height reports. These are instigated
by the DI every hour on the hour when the wave is working. Your reply
will be gauged how sensible you sound. If the DI suspects that you are
Hypoxic you
will be told to descend immediately. No matter how good you feel about
the situation you must obey the instruction. Euphoria is a symptom of
Hypoxia.
Check Flights. Those
of you who are either not current (28 days) or who's log books do not
show an adequate level of experience, will require a check flight. We
have a Skylaunch winch and two tugs. If you wish to use a launch method
on which you are not current, you must have a check flight. For those
of you who are nor familiar with a modern powerful winch, this will be
an eye opening experience.
If
you are not an experienced wave pilot, a flight with a local instructor
will pay dividends. Wave flying is not difficult, but it's nice to have
a friendly voice around the first time that you experience moderate rotor
on tow. It may even save you a few quid on relights if you're shown how
to do it first. The Dishforth rotor can be very exciting, even experienced
pilots find it challenging. (Acro wings visibly flex). The locals will
be only too pleased to share their knowledge and experience. A trip in
one of our resident motor gliders is a cost effective way of getting to
know the local area, landmarks and hot spots whilst gaining useful wave
craft.
Flying
Fees. Please pay these on a daily basis in the bar at the end of
each day's flying. we do not have the staff resources to set up accounts
for visitors.
